Features
Spacepal gives every macOS Space a name, icon, color and note, and builds tools on top of that: one overview of every Space, names in Mission Control, instant switching, window moves and automations. Everything works without turning off System Integrity Protection, on macOS 14 and later.
- See every Space at once: ⌥Tab opens a grid of every Space with names, previews and app icons. Filter by typing, switch with a number key.
- Names in Mission Control: your Space names appear over Mission Control's desktop thumbnails, where macOS shows only "Desktop 1, 2, 3".
- Keyboard shortcuts: ⌃⌥1 to ⌃⌥0 switch with no slide animation, plus last Space, window search, marks and a scratchpad.
- Move windows between Spaces: send the front window anywhere with one shortcut, keep apps on their own Space and save layouts. Moving the front window works on every supported version; moving background windows needs macOS 14.0 to 14.4 or 26.4 and later.
- Per-Space automations: open apps and URLs, run a Shortcut or shell command, or switch browser profile when you enter or leave a Space, plus profiles and templates.
Also included
- The current Space's name in the menu bar, with scroll-to-switch.
- Time spent per Space, kept on your Mac, with CSV export (Settings, Time).
- A wallpaper per Space, a Space Dock with only this Space's apps, and an optional floating toolbar per display.
- Backup and import of every name and setting as one JSON file.
- Native Shortcuts actions, AppleScript, a
spacepal://link for every action, and astate.jsonfile for other tools. See integrations.
