Download Spacepal (zip)

System requirements

Install

  1. Open the downloaded zip and drag Spacepal into your Applications folder.
  2. Open Spacepal. It lives in the menu bar; there is no Dock icon.
  3. Grant Accessibility in System Settings, Privacy & Security. Spacepal needs it to switch Spaces and move windows.
  4. Optionally grant Screen Recording for live previews in the overview. Without it you still get names, colors, shortcuts and the overview, with a colored card instead of each preview.
  5. In System Settings, Desktop & Dock, turn off Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use, so the order of your Spaces stays stable.
  6. Press ⌥Tab to see every Space at once.

Full setup notes, shortcuts and troubleshooting are in the docs. Why each permission is needed is on the privacy page.

One limit to know about

On macOS 14.0 to 14.4 and on macOS 26.4 and later, Spacepal moves any window directly. On the versions in between, macOS only lets it move the window in front, so layout restore, app rules and putting windows back after a monitor change do not work there. Everything else does.

Updates

The direct version checks for updates itself and installs them when you agree. What changed is on the changelog.

After the trial

A license is a one-time purchase for up to three Macs. See pricing.
