Designer Spaces template for Mac
The design tool gets a desktop to itself, references sit one keystroke away, and a clean Review desktop is ready for client calls, so you never share a screen full of Slack messages.
Download Designer Spaces (.json)
The desktops
| # | Desktop | Opens | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Design | Figma | Only the design tool, at full size. |
| 2 | References | Nothing | Moodboards, screenshots and inspiration. Flick to it and back with the same shortcut. |
| 3 | Review | Nothing | An empty desktop for presenting. Bring the one window you want to show here before a call. |
| 4 | Chat | Slack | Feedback and messages, out of the way of the work. |
Use Sketch, Affinity or Adobe apps? Replace com.figma.Desktop in the file, or rebuild the plan in the planner.
Shortcuts that make it work
- ⌃⌥1 and ⌃⌥2 jump between design and references with no slide, so comparing feels like one screen.
- ⌃⌥⇧3 sends the front window to Review right before a call.
- ⌥Tab shows all four desktops by name with previews.
Going further
Spacepal can hide apps that have no window on the desktop you enter, which keeps Review clean, and send a keystroke to the front app when you arrive. See the designers use case.
To install: in Spacepal, open Settings, Profiles, Templates, click Import Template…, choose the file, then click Apply. More setups: all templates.
