Freelancer Spaces template for Mac
One desktop per client keeps each client's documents, browser tabs and tools together, so switching clients is one keystroke instead of a hunt through windows. Admin work and personal things get their own desktops, away from client work.

The desktops
| # | Desktop | Opens | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Client A | Nothing yet | Rename it to your client. Leave that client's windows here between sessions. |
| 2 | Client B | Nothing yet | Same for your second client. Each has its own color, so you always know whose work is on screen. |
| 3 | Client C | Nothing yet | Add or remove client desktops to match your list. |
| 4 | Admin | Invoices, contracts and email, kept away from client work. | |
| 5 | Personal | Nothing | Everything that isn't work. |
Rename the client desktops before you apply (edit the file, or use the planner with the Freelancer preset), or rename them afterwards from the Spacepal menu. Names are shown in the menu bar, the overview and Mission Control.
Shortcuts that make it work
- ⌃⌥1 … ⌃⌥5 switch clients instantly. Press again to go back to the client you were on.
- ⌃⌥⇧ plus a number moves a window to the right client.
- ⌥Tab shows every client's desktop with a preview before you switch.
- With the link
spacepal://switch/Acmeyou can go to a client by name from Shortcuts or Raycast.
Going further
Spacepal can open a different Chrome, Brave, Edge, Vivaldi or Arc profile on each client's desktop, and it records time per desktop, which you can export as a CSV for invoicing. See the freelancers use case.
To install: in Spacepal, open Settings, Profiles, Templates, click Import Template…, choose the file, then click Apply. More setups: all templates.
